Air Control Company History

As a college student needing to supplement his income, Jim Perry started working for Proctor Oil Company as an experienced repair technician in 1964. His background included working for several years as an oil burner mechanic in Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas.

Upon graduation from FSU in 1968, Jim was offered an opportunity to establish and become a partner in a newly formed spin-off company of Proctor Oil to be known as Proctor Heating and Cooling. In 1978 he and his wife Judy became sole owners of that company, and the name was changed to what it is today, Air Control Heating and Cooling.

Team

In 2001, Tim Hawkins joined the Air Control team as a service technician, and by 2004 he became a service manager. In this role, he learned the importance of customer service and employee management. Soon, he was promoted to the position of a General Manager, running the day to day operations and overseeing the service and installation department. His wife, Shanya Hawkins, joined Air Control in 2010. Using her experience from Carrier and having a background in the HVAC business she became an important part of Air Control Heating and Cooling. In 2015, Jim and Tim came up with a plan for a buyout that will be complete in December 2020.

Air Control has been serving the greater Tallahassee area and experienced steady progress in both personnel expertise as well as a positive and responsive community relationship. Our company is a fully licensed HVAC contractor serving both residential and commercial HVAC needs. We are experienced in the sales and installation of new equipment in addition to the service of all makes and models of existing equipment.
